Noble High School was established in 1967 to serve the needs of the students of its three adjacent towns: Berwick, North Berwick, and Lebanon. Noble is a rural high school with 90 teachers and approximately 1100 students. Ninety-seven percent of the students are white and three percent are African American or Asian. The high school is fully accredited by the New English Association of Schools and Colleges, a member of Coalition of Essential Schools and a leader of educational reform in the country. Noble's guiding principles are: "All students are capable of success; and all students will have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become self-directed, lifelong learners; flexible workers; complex thinkers and responsible community and global contributors." Noble is divided into three academies. Each academy consists of a 9th grade team, a 10th grade team and 11th and 12th grade houses. All of these students are heterogeneously grouped and complete a common curriculum in order to graduate. Noble also offers a wide range of electives.

Noble High School is located on a beautiful wooded campus in North Berwick, a small town in the South Coast area of Maine (See the map). It is a part of a Maine School Administrative District (U.S.A.60) that boasts 11,660 inhabitants. The district lies 36 miles south of Portland, the state's largest city, and 66 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. The three towns that make up U.S.A.60 are rural with no public transportation available. School and host families provide transportation for the exchange students.

The climate in Maine is one of great diversity. Average temperatures range from 75° in the summer to 20° in the winter. Snow is common in winter.
