Website for a Client

20 Points

You are creating a website for others. You need to find a client, find out their requirements, criteria and meet their needs. Write a proposal briefly describing the website, including the title of the website, the layout, how many pages and the content. The client can be a business owner, a teacher, or your friend. When you finish the website, you need to ask your client to write you a thank-you email and cc me. Please see the Rubric.

What should be included in the proposal?

Outline of Content

A website proposal should clearly describe what will be included on the website. You can write an outline, or draw a layout, to show what sections and features you intend to build for the client. An outline lets the client know your ideas for the website according to the meetings with them.

Method of Building Site

You need to decide from the beginning what methods you are going to use build the website. For example, you can use Dreamweaver or you can use static HTML, meaning each page is created manually, and updates are done manually as well. You can also use Flash to add some multimedia features, but by doing so, you will need more time developing it. Whatever method you choose, the methods should be explained in the proposal so you and your client will agree to the best way to build the website.

Hosting

A web proposal should also include the hosting plan for the site. In your situation, SAD60 will help host the website for your client. In the future, if you include a lot of video content in your website, you will have to assure your client of having more storage and speed to handle the traffic and content expected.

Maintenance

Once a website is designed, built and published, it will need to be maintained. The proposal should specify what the client will be able to do to update the website or what you will do to keep the site running and up-to-date.

Time Frame

Most clients want to work on a deadline. Since website projects require a lot of approvals and changes, you need to work with your clients to estimate the time you need to build the websites and decide the deadline.
